Description

The March 2017 art challenge for the North Tampa Arts League was "Black & White + 1". The art had to be created within the last month. I took this photo of the fountain outside Plant Hall on the University of Tampa campus while on a Magic Carpet Glide Segway tour. To meet the challenge, I selected the green of a lily pad and created a mask. Removing the green mask from the rocks I then inverted the mask and reduced saturation to zero to force the rest of the image to black and white. A few more layers to tweak exposure and contrast plus a vignette really pops the image. It was awarded 3rd place in the competition.
